Ready to begin? Book your consultation to meet with our clinical estheticians, map out your customized treatment plan, and receive a test patch to ensure your skin responds beautifully. In most cases, we can begin treatment the same day.
Preparing for Your Session
What to do before you arrive.
- Shave the treatment area within 24 hours before your appointment (Nair or depilatory creams are also fine).
- Avoid waxing, tweezing, or plucking for at least 2 weeks prior — these remove the follicle the laser needs to target.
- Limit sun exposure to prevent skin irritation or hyperpigmentation.
- Do not apply lotions, oils, deodorant, or makeup to the treatment area on the day of your appointment.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing to help keep the treatment area cool after your session.
- Notify your provider of any recent medications, antibiotics, or skin treatments before your session.

Who should not
receive laser treatment.
Your safety is our top priority. Laser treatment should not be performed if any of the following conditions are present. We will review all contraindications at your consultation.
Active infection in the treatment area (bacterial, viral, or fungal)
Open wounds, sores, or unhealed lesions in the area
Active herpes simplex outbreak in the treatment area
History of keloid scarring or hypertrophic scars (use extreme caution)
Photosensitive disorders such as lupus or porphyria
Recent tanning — natural sun or tanning beds within the past 2 weeks
Photosensitizing medications such as isotretinoin/Accutane (within 6–12 months), tetracyclines, or sulfa drugs
Pregnancy — treatment is deferred until after delivery
Recent waxing, plucking, or epilation in the area within the past 2 weeks
Active cancer in the treatment area

after your session.

Immediately After
Mild redness and a warm sensation in the treatment area are completely normal and typically subside within a few hours. Apply a cool compress if needed for comfort.

The First 48 Hours
Avoid heat — no hot showers, saunas, or strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours. Skip deodorant, perfume, and active skincare products on the treated area.

Ongoing Care
Protect treated skin from sun exposure and use SPF daily. Shaving between sessions is perfectly safe — waxing and tweezing are not. You'll notice hair growing back finer and slower with each treatment.

How many sessions do I typically need?
The number of sessions varies by hair type, skin type, and treatment area. On average, most clients need at least 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for optimal results. Our team will build a personalized treatment plan at your consultation.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Soprano Platinum's continuous contact cooling makes the experience virtually pain-free for most clients. If your skin is sensitive, you may feel mild discomfort — similar to a light rubber band snap — but this is brief and well-tolerated.
Why do I need to shave before my treatment?
The laser targets the hair follicle beneath the skin by traveling down the hair shaft. Shaving keeps the shaft intact at the surface so the laser can reach the follicle effectively. If you wax or pluck, the shaft is removed entirely — and the laser has nothing to follow to reach the root.
Can I wax between laser sessions?
We don't recommend it. Waxing removes the hair follicle the laser needs to target, reducing treatment effectiveness. Shaving and depilatory creams (like Nair) are safe between sessions and won't interfere with your results. Over time, you'll notice hair growing back slower and finer — making the wait much easier.
Are there any restrictions before my session?
Yes — avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks before your session, and refrain from waxing or plucking for at least two weeks prior. Shave within 24 hours of your appointment. Avoid retinol on the treatment area for 3 days beforehand. We'll review all pre-treatment guidelines at your consultation.
